Brittney Griner: Someone to Cheer For

Brittney Griner: Someone to Cheer For

Mar 28, 2013

After the departure of Candace Parker from the University of Tennessee, Women’s Basketball fans have been in search of someone to rejuvenate the Women’s College Basketball presence. Then Brittney Griner entered…

In her first couple of seasons she was under the radar, and then her third year happened. Griner’s junior year was considered her breakout season. She could have been selfish and entered the draft after Baylor University won the NCAA championship title but decided to develop her game even more. Her accolades have piled high because of this and respectfully so.

In Griner, women’s basketball has an energetic dunker, dominant center, and athleticism that many women basketball players desire. All the talk about women’s basketball is not entertaining and they don’t dunk blah blah has now been silenced and replaced with cheers for Griner to give them at least one dunk in the game.

Brittney Griner has brought back the excitement and is believed to add something special when she enters the WNBA. As the #1 draft pick, she will more than certainly go to the Phoenix Mercury. With the combination of Diana Taurasi, Penny Taylor, and Brittney Griner, we can all expect some amazing things to happen in the near future. Will the three players click and produce the franchise’s third WNBA championship? I guess we have to wait and see, the Phoenix Mercury debuts on May 27th against the Chicago Sky.
