Bulls Charge to Toss Miami’s Win Streak

Bulls Charge to Toss Miami’s Win Streak

Mar 28, 2013

The Chicago Bulls shocked the Miami Heat as the superstar NBA team faced its first loss since the first day of February. Despite LeBron’s 32 points on 11 of 17 shooting and Chris Bosh’s 21 points and the absence of Joakim Noah, the Bulls go on to pick up a win; 101-97. Shattering the Miami Heat’s journey to break the 71-72 Lakers’ 33 game win streak and halting at 27, six shy from the record.

The Heat started off with a rocky start, down by ten at the end of the first quarter and nine at the half. Miami tried to fight back, which they did but it wasn’t enough. Carlos Boozer had an amazing showing scoring 21 accompanied by 17 rebounds on his stats line. But what you don’t see there is his clutch put-back off a missed Nate Robinson trey solidifying the lead by seven. The stats also didn’t show the emotion that over-filled LeBron’s body after not getting the flagrant he desired after Taj Gibson had foul on a lay-up. LeBron came back on the possession with an actual flagrant of his own on a screen by Boozer, intentionally ramming into Carlos to give himself satisfaction. The satisfying feeling was sour when it resulted in free throws and another possession during a crucial point in the game.

The result had the Heat attempt a surge late in the fourth, with two consecutive blocks from Chris Bosh and James, having one lead to a three point play of Bosh. The run was quickly derailed by a loose ball foul on Battier, completely crushing the adrenaline that was rising. The game stayed close but whenever the Heat tried, the Bulls quickly shut them down.

Replacing an injured Hamilton and Belinelli was Jimmy Butler; the second year shooting guard out of Marquette who had an excellent showing when put up against Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen. Butler went on to shoot 60% while scoring 17 points to help the Bulls with a victory. Nazr Mohammed replaced Noah but only played fifteen minutes scoring 6 points of 3-4 shooting. Nazr wasn’t on as much as Taj Gibson who came up with five assists and rebounds but went inefficient in the scoring department at 2-7.
