Chip’s First Big Test

January 4th in a match up against the New Orleans Saints, the Eagles find themselves in the playoffs after a 4-12 2012 campaign.

There is no doubt Chip Kelly has done an amazing job with this team, but there is no bigger game than this weekend, and no, not just because it is a playoff game. The Eagles have played 4 playoff teams, they are 1 and 3 in those games including a 10 point loss at home to Kansas City and 32 point loss at Denver. The one win against a playoff team? The Green Bay Packers with Scott Tolzien under center.

Not only do they only have one win over an Aaron Rogers-less Packers playoff team, but only 2 of their 10 wins have been against teams over .500.

So as a Chip Kelly fan, I can see why some people still have their doubts; Saturday night Chip has the chance to silence all of these doubters. The Eagles find themselves playing against an 11-5 Saints team who is more than playoff experienced with Sean Payton and Drew Brees leading the way.

The match up Saturday won’t be decided by Chips “sea-coast” offense, but rather his scrappy 3-4 defense. Will the Eagles defense be able to continue with their multiple stunt and blitz packages knowing Jimmy Graham will be man to man with a slower LB or an under sized nickel back?

The key to this game Saturday night is simple. How will the Eagles defense continue to pressure Brees while shutting down the NFL’s leading touchdown receiver Jimmy Graham?

Prediction: Eagles 28-17
