Metta World Peace Has No Interest in the NBA

Jul 13, 2013

If you were counting on seeing Metta World Peace in a NBA jersey next year then you may be disappointed. After the LA Lakers used their amnesty waiver on Metta, World Peace has stated that he has no interest in playing for any team in the NBA next season. He would much rather play professional basketball in China or try his hand at arena football, according to ESPN.

I can see both avenues as a possibility.

Many former NBA players are playing basketball overseas and I think Metta could be a difference maker (good or bad) in arena football.

Here’s why: When he was Ron Artest with the Indiana Pacers, remember when he ran into the stands after a fan. While being Metta World Peace, remember the cheap shot that he put on James Harden during the playoffs. He clearly has some angry issues and what better way to let that out than be able to tackle people as part of the job.

Metta has been seeing the funny side to getting oust by the Lakers and has been using Twitter as the tool. On Twitter, he has made reference to playing hockey, baseball, and for Yao Ming (Shanghai Sharks) in Shanghai. But like he said, you can’t believe everything he says so we have to wait and see what his next move is.
