NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament

Apr 2, 2013

Considered by many as the biggest upset in Women’s College Basketball, the #1 seeded Brittney Griner and the Baylor Bears, fall to the #5 seeded Louisville Cardinals. In a game where Louisville saw three pointers fall in with ease, they were unstoppable despite the foul trouble of key players.

The Bears fought to the end, this will definitely be a game that everyone remembers because of the “Griner Effect.” I’m sure there are many disappointed fans that have already reserve their hotel rooms, took time off from work, and made other preparations to be in New Orleans for the 2013 NCAAW title game. The Bears were a talented bunch so we’ll get to see them on TV soon. This is without a doubt, not the last that we will see of Griner. It is almost a guarantee that every Marketing Leader in sports television, in particularly ESPN, has worked hard to clear a slot for Brittney Griner’s first game in the WNBA. Stay Tuned…

On another note, the University of Connecticut (UConn) is headed for the sixth straight Final Four appearance. The team was led by Breanna Stewart’s 21 points on the night, the team went on to demolish the University of Kentucky (UK)with a final score of (83-53). The Huskies are looking forward to competing for the championship now that Baylor is no longer in contention.

Another team headed into the Final Four is California. Cal has made it into the Final Four for the first time in school history. The team defeated the University of Georgia (UGA) 65-62. Layshia Clarendon was too much for the Bulldogs, finishing with 25 points after only scoring eight in the first half.

As we wait for the results of Louisville vs. Tennessee and the matchup with Notre Dame against The Duke Blue Devils, we are still in shock for the beloved Baylor Bears.
