During this Cardinals-Rockies three game series, epic pitching performances were under way. After rookie Shelby Miller had a one hit performance against the Rockies on Friday night, Adam Wainwright felt as if he should match that performance today. Miller had an outstanding pitching night, striking out all batters apart from a leadoff single from Eric Young Jr. Wainwright continued this Cardinals pitching streak, having a perfect game up to the 8th inning after an Arenado single. This Cardinal pitching tandem performance, of 40 consecutive struck out batters, tied the MLB record. Adding to the importance of this feat, the Rockies are the highest scoring team with 169 runs. The question is – Will the cardinals continue this pitching performance with Garcia? It is highly unlikely, but it would be amazing to see.
