The NBA is Back

The NBA is Back

Oct 30, 2013

Last night the NBA returned. The preseason is over, now the regular season has finally began. It’s been a long summer us NBA fans and the return of the NBA didn’t disappoint.

Heat vs Bulls

The perfect way to kick off the NBA to the mainstream audience is by having the reigning MVP, who plays for the defending champs square off against the last guy to win MVP since that guy. Watching the Heat after a long summer was great for the league and definitely fun to watch. Then there was the return of Derrick Rose. It was pretty much ruined by Miami’s second quarter where they outscored the Bulls by like 20. The Bulls tried to fight back but the Heat held on for the victory. On the Bulls side Rose still looked explosive and Carlos Boozer and Jimmy Butler provided some well needed offense. Between the three of them I think that’s where all the offense came from. That has to change.

On Miami’s side it was a pretty well balanced effort. Everyone who played scored in the double digits except Udonis Haslem and Chris Anderson, which is expected. LeBron stat stuffed and the starting unit did a great job of getting easy buckets at the foul line. The champs looked pretty good, and they only played their rotation from last season, it’ll be crazy to see when Erik Spolestra expands his bench.

Lakers vs Clippers

This game was crazy! We expected the Clippers to have changed under Doc Rivers guidance. They might have but they didn’t show it last night. Even though they say they want to get away from the self given Lob City nickname but I saw a lot of Jordan/Griffin dunks. I will say that DeAndre Jordan played very well and JJ Reddick started off strong but besides that the Clippers didn’t impress.

Then the Lakers bench mob came in (I’m trying not to laugh) and just started getting buckets. Yeah that guy Xavier Henry was getting buckets, he set a career high with 22 points. Jordan Farmar made the most of his return as and they even got Jordan Hill in the action as even he was scoring a little bit. I wouldn’t get too excited over the bench mob, but it did happen and the preseason excuse is over.

The Clippers have to be better than that, and I know they will but last night was just not their night. This season is definitely going to be interesting.

Was good though, it's me Everick Davis Jr. Born and raised in Portsmouth Virginia, I'm currently a senior at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. I watch every sport (not so much golf) but I am huge on the NBA. My favorite players right now are J.R. Smith, Russell Westbrook & Nick Young. Drinking beer and watching sports is my favorite past time and I do it year round! I used to play basketball on the regular until everyone else kept growing and I still stood at 5'6. So that's when I channeled my efforts into becoming the next Stephen A Smith or anything close to that. I currently write for "The Carolinian" newspaper in Greensboro, NC and intern for http://theurbantwist.com/ Random Fact about me, I love anime, my favorite one is One Piece! Second random fact, I got beatz! check me out http://www.reverbnation.com/ielabs
