UConn Crowded National Champions

UConn Crowded National Champions

Apr 10, 2013

The buzzer has sounded and the Lady Huskies have prevailed as National Champions. Louisville was quite the underdog in this matchup. Coming into this game, Louisville had provided many shockers, in particularly the biggest upset in Women’s Basketball with the upset of Brittney Griner and the Baylor Bears. But Louisville had their hands full when they met freshman forward, Breanna Stewart and the UConn squad. The championship game was way out of hand at the beginning of the second half. Stewart willed her team from the beginning, doing most of her damage in the first half scoring 18 of her 23 points. The final score UConn 93, Louisville 60. Coach Geno Auriemma did his happy dance and the Lady Huskies now get to come back next season and seek championship #9. This will give Coach Geno the chance to surpass the HOF coach Pat Summitt with title #9; which isn’t a far stretch because if you watched the game you saw just how bright Bre Stewart’s future is with the university. Congratulations are in order.
