After a heartbreaking loss in the Stanley Cup Finals a few weeks ago, the Boston Bruins are looking to make another run at the Cup. In order to make another run they struck a deal with the Dallas Stars to bring in some new players. Here’s how the deal went down:
Bruins get: Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Matt Fraser, & Joe Morrow
Stars get: Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverley, & Ryan Button
I like this move by the Bruins as they are getting a very underrated wing player in Eriksson. I feel like with how good he is on the left wing and how ungood (is that even a word?) Tyler Seguin was during the playoffs it all pays off.
Seguin only scored one goal throughout the entire playoffs. Just one goal through four series, that’s just unacceptable. Forget the fact that he had 7 assists (which isn’t bad), his production in the playoffs was a huge drop off from the playoffs.
Since the Bruins are already pretty deep at the center position, it made trading Peverley pretty easy with capable players at the position. It’s also a good move for the Stars also as it gives them a young star to build around in Seguin.
He’s a former number two pick in the draft and had been very productive up until this recent playoff blunder. Since the Stars didn’t even make the playoffs it was obvious that some kind of move needed to be made, so I say it’s good on both sides.
