Alright people, I took a hard look at the Eastern Conference, made some gusty predictions and made it through. Now the West will be a little bit simpler to predict, as their problem isn’t that the players aren’t good, the problem out is West is that there are too many great players. Without any further delay, here are my predictions for the Western Conference All-Stars.
Starters:
Point Guard: Chris Paul
There is no doubt that the man that’s considered the best point guard in the league won’t start in the all- star game. Chris Paul has proven that hes the best facilitator and is one of the most popular players on the Clippers, who play in LA. There’s not much to say about Paul he’s having another one of his consistently good seasons, and has lead the injured Clippers to a respectable record.
Shooting Guard: Kobe Bryant
He’s the Black Mamba. Injured or not hes still getting voted to start. Did I mention that this is Kobe Bryant that I’m talking about, enough said.
Small Forward: Kevin Durant
This is too easy. Ok Kevin Durant is a MVP candidate year in and year out. Hes an offensive monster who currently leads one of the top teams in the West, in the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant is one of the most popular players in the league and even though he’s young, I feel like its almost impossible for this guy to get better. He’s just that good.
Power Forward: Blake Griffin
Some people may say that Kevin Love or LaMarcus Aldridge should have this spot, well I’m not one of those people. From the beginning of the game I want to see the Griffin fly in for some high flying dunks. He gets criticized for only dunking, but can anybody else even dunk like this guy? Nah, plus hes having a pretty good season, playing a more versatile game for the Clippers this season. If all this isn’t enough, well Blake is popular as hell. You might not have watched him play basketball but I bet you seen one of his commercials. The Griffin is starting, hands down.
Center: Dwight Howard
This guy. I don’t even know if he’s having a good season or not. When I watch the Rockets hes usually not doing anything, and if he does I’m usually laughing at him. Dwights going to start simply because he’s the best center the NBA has got. Any other center can go up against him on their best day and still come out a loser. Howard has the blocks and the dunks that are tailor made for the all star game, and regardless of the Dwightmare, hes not losing any votes. Expect to see Dwight giggling down the court and pulling up for uncontested threes.
Front Court Reserves:
Kevin Love:
Whats there not to like about Kevin Love? He can shoot the three and rebound with the best of them. He can score inside and out, his defense isn’t top notch but boy can he score and rebound. Hes a lock to make the all star team this year after being injured last season. His Wolves aren’t that good but its ok, Love is a star and will be at that all star game.
LaMarcus Aldridge:
This guy has been a beast in the NBA for a while now. Finally hes getting a little more love because his team is nice. This guy is a consistent double double threat, as he’ll get you at least 20 and 10 a night. The Blazers are balling and Aldridge is beastin. So this one just makes a lot of sense.
Anthony Davis:
Yes, the Unibrow has to make the all star team. When we look at the West their are a lot of really good power forwards and Davis is one of them. He’s only in his second year in the league and has proven to be a force on both sides of the floor. From the points he puts up, to the rebounds that he grabs and you can’t forget about the blocks. AD is basically averaging 20 and 10 and its only his second year. The NBA needs to go ahead and reward this man with his first all star appearance of many to come.
Tim Duncan:
Whats a all star game without Tim Duncan? The Big Fundamental has been slowing down just a little bit this year, but he’s far from finished. He’s one of the big reasons why the Spurs are at the top of the West (like always). We reward players like Duncan, consistently beast. Not much else to say, Duncan will probably make the team until he retires.
Back Court Reserves:
Russell Westbrook:
Now here’s were things get a little interesting. The West has countless all star quality guards but only 3 can be chosen behind Kobe and CP3. That’s exactly why I’m getting Westbrook out the way now. If I had it my way, Westbrook would be starting, he’s just that good. Hes super explosive, aggressive as hell and makes exciting plays. He damn near one of the sole reasons that the Thunder are near the top of conference. When Westbrook plays this team wins. Sounds like a all star to me.
Tony Parker:
Lets be clear, Tony Parker is what you would call a superstar. Hes another one of those guys who are a big reason why his team wins. In a league where point guards rule, Tony Parker is always seen as an elite point man. This guy is a winner, and that’s what his team has been doing. Fresh off a Finals appearance, you should expect to see TP putting on a show at all star weekend.
James Harden:
The Bearded one is an established superstar now. After being traded to the Rockets, Harden has reached his star potential. He’s not much of a defender but this guy can score the rock like its nothing. Harden is one of those can’t miss, top billing stars now, so there’s no way he’s missing this game. Hes just too good and too big of a name.
Snubs/Replacements:
Stephen Curry
Damian Lillard
Dirk Nowitzki
