When the Denver Broncos lost the Super Bowl the first question I had to ask was when is Peyton Manning done? It seems like this guy has been around forever and it feels like hes done everything that one could do with an NFL career. His Super Bowl loss last week is just another stat for someone to use against him, Manning will go down as an all time great when its all said and done but when will it all be said and done?
Right now Manning is 37 years old, in the sports world that is an old man. He was number one pick of the NFL Draft way back in 1998, going to the Indianapolis Colts. Hes been a Pro Bowler, MVP and champion all with the Colts. Manning stayed there up until 2011 after he was released and signed by the Denver Broncos.
The reason the Colts released Manning was because of his injury he occurred. The team decided to draft Andrew Luck instead and go into a new era for the franchise. That was 3 years ago now but you could never be too sure with Mannings age plus health.
Even though Manning is still elite and just won MVP this season, I think its getting close to time for him to retire. I won’t say next year or the year after that either. I think Manning should go until he’s 40 and if he is still throwing at an elite level then there is no reason not to keep going. Its just hard to not see his age getting in the way. Also the way the Seattle Seahawks figured him out might have other teams doing the same.
Either way I got faith in Manning. I say as long as hes not hurt he can go until hes 40. Shoot I heard some people say he has at least 5 more years left in him, I say why not Manning.
