The New York Knicks: Nightmare Season Saga isn’t over just yet. Matter of fact the off season just started up a whole new story arc. After failing to make the post season for the first time in the Melo-Stoudamire era the Knicks began their off season earlier than anticipated. Now the Knicks have decided to move away from head coach Mike Woodson by firing him and his entire staff.
Before the Nightmare Season Saga began, Woodson was looked at as a good coach. He took over two years ago after Mike D’Antoni quit mid season and immediately made a difference. Then last season he had a very successful season as well as the Knicks were the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference. This season though was a pretty bad one for the Knicks as they dealt with injuries and inconsistent play throughout the entire season. Whenever things would seem to be going in the right direction for the Knicks, something else would happen and usually serve as a distraction.
Personally I don’t think Woodson deserved to be fired but overall its probably better for the two sides to go their separate ways. Woodson seemed like a good fit a year ago when he lead the veteran filled Knicks but when most of those older players moved on it felt like Woodson lost the support of the roster. Hey maybe that was really Jason Kidd coaching last season but we just didn’t know it?
Either way Woodson is gone and more moves will likely be done in New York. Next we get to see if Carmelo Anthony will stay or go, which will bring its own drama.
