Like most times where there are some type of voting involved, there will always be some form of controversy. Like every other year the NBA All Star starters has caused a little controversy, but I for one like what the fans did this year.
On the East we have all the guys I projected, but on the Westside there was a few changes.
East West
Point guard Kyrie Irving Stephen Curry
Shooting guard Dwyane Wade Kobe Bryant
Small forward Paul George Kevin Durant
Power forward Carmelo Anthony Kevin Love
Center LeBron James Blake Griffin
The only controversy coming out the East is really the fact that there are real centers or power forwards in the starting lineup. The East front court just sports the top 3 small forwards in the conference. I guess you could say that Melo should not start because his team sucks, but most of the team in the East suck so somebody had to be picked.
If you had to pick one big man to start it would probably be Roy Hibbert, but lets be real the all star game is fast paced with no defense, which is everything Hibbert isn’t. I read others say they would rather have John Wall over Kyrie Irving, but personally I would give it to Irving. I will say though that my boy Lance Stephenson and DeMar Derozen should be reserves, the rest don’t matter that much.
On the West when you look you notice two big names missing : Chris Paul and Dwight Howard. Then you might notice one player has only played 6 games this season : Kobe Bryant. Now I will say there is absolutely nothing wrong with Dwight not starting. In the mainstream media there is a three way race for the top power forward spot in NBA featuring Griffin, Love and LaMarcus Aldridge. With all three of them growing in popularity its only right that at least two of them would start, since Kevin Durant not starting wasn’t happening. A lot of people are calling for Aldridge to start but right now hes not more popular than Love or Griffin, regardless of how good his team is.
As far as the Chris Paul situation goes, its very shocking. Chris Paul is considered the best point guard in the NBA so to not see him start is crazy. Right when he got injured Stephen Curry passed him in the voting and I think nobody is mad about that at all. Curry has become a premier superstar in this league and personally the best shooter I’ve ever seen. It’s cool to see him get some love as a starter especially in his first all star game ever. Chris Paul shouldn’t of been the one to lose the starting spot but Curry deserves that spot. As for Kobe, it was a nice gesture by the fans but he won’t play anyway so we can expect Damian Lillard or CP3 to start in his place.
I personally like the all star starters but what did you guys think?
