For the first time in NBA history there will three different game 7’s in the first round being played on the same day. The Indiana Pacers- Atlanta Hawks series, the Oklahoma City Thunder- Memphis Grizzlies series and the Los Angeles Clippers- Golden State Warriors series will all be decided by one game.
The crazy thing about this though is that there are absolutely no favorites in any of these match ups.
Indiana has been very stale and has lacked passion throughout the postseason. The Hawks on the other hand are a three point shooting team that simply doesn’t have another option when the threes aren’t flying. Both teams have won two games on the opponents home floor and this final one is in Indiana. The Pacers should take this one but right now with the way things have been going its up in the air.
The Thunder and Grizzlies have played one of the best series I’ve seen in my life, with 4 games going down to overtime. The Thunder are the number 2 seed but the Grizzlies really aren’t a true number 7 seed. In the West, the teams seeding really doesn’t matter as no western conference playoff series has finished yet. The Thunder run their offense strictly through Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook which works usually but the Grizzlies are the best defensive team in the league. This one can go either way depending on how the Thunder come out.
The Clippers and Warriors is going to be a dog fight regardless. The stars are going to show up regardless but this one comes down to who’s role players show up in this series. Either way both teams have an equal chance at victory.
The best part about this is that I could be saying the same thing the next day about the other match ups that are all at 3-2. This first round has truly been one to remember.
