All-Star Weekend has always been one of the coolest and fun sporting events. It takes place over one whole weekend and gives fans a show who the best of the best is. They bring out the best young stars, three point shooters, dunkers and overall players. Its always an honor for a player to be invited to partake in an event at all star weekend.
While the players who are partaking in the events have full busy schedules for the entire weekend, the rest of the NBA players get about a half a week off to do whatever they want. Its called the “All Star Break” but none of the all stars actually get a break. Yesterday night most of those players were back in action after having Monday off to mostly travel to the next games destination. Now my problem is not that the players get right back to action after a small break, my problem comes from what comes up only a few days later after the All Star Break; the NBA trade deadline.
The trade deadline always comes around right after the all star break, which is cool because its generally gives us a week of excitement. The problem I have is that most of the players that will most likely get traded are not stars. These guys have been away from their team for a few days relaxing, then they have to report back to the team, then just to get traded a few days later. To me that just seems very messy.
What if the league stopped NBA action until after the trade deadline? Then we could properly start the second half of the NBA, instead having these guys play a more few games with a team right after coming off break. Since this trade deadline is on Thursday at 3pm, I would say start things back up on Friday night. It would give all players a break and us fans a little gap in time between the first half and second half of the season.
