Well since Kobe Bryant and almost everyone else on the Los Angeles Lakers are all broke down this year, Kobe said he won’t be playing in the all star game because of his injury. That is good news for one person who didn’t make the all star team out West because that means Adam Silver will chose the replacement. In the West their were not many snubs so it really comes down to two players : Goran Dragic of the Phoenix Suns and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans.
When looking at the standings in the West, most teams in the playoff picture are well represented. Every team in the playoff picture right now has a player in the all star game except the Suns and the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies really don’t count because they just tied up with the Mavericks a few days ago. The all star game is in New Orleans so it would seem right that they have a player in the game as well.
So do we go with the guy on the winning team or the guy on the home team?
As much as I like Anthony Davis, I fell like he has a lot more chances to make the game. He is already who I consider one of the top power forwards in the game at the age of 20. Personally I think he should take Dirk Nowitzki’s spot, not because Dirk isn’t playing well but because Anthony has been a beast. Since I can only go with one guy here this time I won’t go with Davis.
I think Goran Dragic should be the one to replace Kobe Bryant in the all star game. Lets be honest, this will probably be Dragics only chance to make the all star game. What he is doing out in Phoenix is nothing short of amazing. He is on a Suns team that was expected to tank but he has them in the thick of things for a playoff spot this year. Right now he’s averaging 20 points and 6 assist, leading this band of misfits to the promise land, that has to give him something. Early on I felt like this spot should of gone to Dragic’s teammate Eric Bledsoe but he joins the long list of injured players now. Early on Monta Ellis looked like a contender for the spot and he still is but just not at the level as Dragic.
Whoever the NBA picks between the two of them will be a good player but if you ask me it should be Goran Dragic.
