A Few Things We Want in NBA 2k14

For us NBA fans, there is one thing that we all got in common. Regardless if we’re Laker fans, Heat fans, or even Celtic fans we all love to sit around and play NBA 2k. The NBA 2k series has been going on for a while, I can remember when Allen Iverson was on the cover. Now it’s clearly beat out NBA Live, which has been out of service for a few years, but it’s far from perfect. After talking with a few of the homies, I’ve came up with this list of a few things we’d like to see in NBA 2k14

NBA D-League

We all know the D-League, doesn’t get the same attention as the NBA but it is still important to the league itself. What if we got a rookie on the end of the bench of our association that we want to develop but necessarily don’t want on the court? What if one of our veterans are acting up and we don’t want them hanging around the team anymore, send them to the D-League. The D-League was playable during the last few years but in the recent game it was absent. It was cool to be able to send unwanted players to the development league and now that anyone is eligible to get sent down in the league it could make the game even funner. Also during NBA 2k11 it was very surreal to have your player get sent to the D-League if they didn’t play up to standards and I think that should return, I mean it would definitely make the game feel more realistic. I would even go on to say that they should include the real players from the D-League also since there’s a chance they can be called up any day anyway.

NBA Summer League

As for the summer league, not too much needs to be said here. Previously it was used during the “My Player” mode but I think if it’s brought back they should expand it. I know a lot of players like to just skip right to the next season of one is finished on the Association but imagine being able to use young players in the summer league. It would definitely help with picking the players you want to keep (of the recently drafted) and would add for more hour’s gameplay.

Rules

The last time I seen somebody kick the basketball in a game was Tracy McGrady and that was when he was pissed off, about to be ejected and played for the Orlando Magic. In other words, that was a long ass time ago. The rule is wack, get it off the game. Also I think it would be pretty cool for them to expand on flopping. I’ve seen some players throw themselves to the ground after a failed charge but I want more. I think it would be cool to add in if players have a added on flop tendency, so if the player is a known actor they will do the same in the game.

The Computer

The computer plays a big part in the 2k series. A lot of the decisions within the game are made by the computer but a lot of them seem really dumb.  Especially when it comes to My Player & Association drafting, I think the selections should be smarter. Also the computer controlled teammates of yours on the Association are usually idiots, fix that please.

VC
I don’t understand it so I’m going to call it stupid. I don’t get why we have to have Xbox Live just to be able to buy accessories and improve your player. Also the fact that you can buy VC is pretty lame, just let us develop the players like we used to, without the help of the internet. I can understand needing the internet for the updated rosters, but to update your player is just ridiculous.

There you have it, just a few ideas from yours truly for the upcoming NBA 2k series.

Was good though, it's me Everick Davis Jr. Born and raised in Portsmouth Virginia, I'm currently a senior at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. I watch every sport (not so much golf) but I am huge on the NBA. My favorite players right now are J.R. Smith, Russell Westbrook & Nick Young. Drinking beer and watching sports is my favorite past time and I do it year round! I used to play basketball on the regular until everyone else kept growing and I still stood at 5'6. So that's when I channeled my efforts into becoming the next Stephen A Smith or anything close to that. I currently write for "The Carolinian" newspaper in Greensboro, NC and intern for http://theurbantwist.com/ Random Fact about me, I love anime, my favorite one is One Piece! Second random fact, I got beatz! check me out http://www.reverbnation.com/ielabs
