Game 1: Celtics at Knicks

Apr 21, 2013

Boston Celtics at New York Knicks – April 20, 2013

The Summary: The Celtics and Knicks had a very exciting game for the most part – exclude that lack-luster shooting performance in the 4th by both teams – ending with a 78-85 outcome in New York’s favor. This all started in the 1st quarter where Carmelo Anthony had 14 points in but couldn’t outlast Boston’s end run where Jeff Green hit a last second three to put them up by three at the end of the first. The game stayed close with the second quarter, with Boston up by four, the close game continued leading to go Boston up by three going into the fourth quarter. This is where the shooting woes occurred and Boston went 3-11 from the floor and turned the ball over late in a close game from a careless pass that was picked by Jason Kidd. This was a crucial part of the game and really was the point where you knew the Knicks had the win.

How Boston Can Improve: We all know this isn’t the end of Boston and they’ll come back with much intensity next game but what they have to do is minimize the amount of turnovers that occur, 20 in the first game lead to a win for the Knicks, if it was 15, that could have been a different story. We have to acknowledge that those turnovers lead to some dunks where the crowd went crazy. When you have a great crowd like that, the other team might have a hard time scoring without any support, even though Pierce and company have silenced many crowds in their playoff runs. Also, get that scoring monster, ‘Melo under control, he can’t be shooting 36 points every game.

After Game One Series Prediction: Knicks in 7. It can actually go either way to me but I feel like Carmelo isn’t going to be stopped but I know he might be when Boston is in their arena. Boston at home can beat any team, so this will be a great series to watch.
