Lakers Made Good on Kobe’s Guarantee

Lakers Made Good on Kobe’s Guarantee

Apr 18, 2013

There has been noise all year surrounding the LA Lakers, especially this past month. Noise on Dwight Howard’s arrival and role, the ousting of Mike Brown, the hiring of Mike D’Antoni, Kobe’s playoff guarantee, and Kobe’s minutes leading to his Achilles injury. The noise is now being replaced with screaming fans cheering because on last night the Lakers made good on Kobe’s playoff guarantee. The Lakers big men have carried the team the last two games without Kobe and now the Lakers are not only in the playoffs but they avoid the Oklahoma Thunder in the first round. The Lakers now meet the San Antonio Spurs in a first round matchup. The Spurs won the regular season between the two teams 2-1, not that that really matters anyway.

Kobe and the Lakers reminds me of injured Kevin Ware and Louisville Cardinals. Louisville won the National Championship despite losing a key player behind the win-it-for-Kevin campaign. The Lakers on the other hand, closed the season off strong in their win-it-for- Kobe campaign, but now the real test comes. I will say that the Lakers should be commended for turning things around on the court and finishing strong after a horrible first half of the season but without Kobe against the Spurs, winning is a long shot. The LA Lakers hopes stay alive for now…
