The 2013 NFL Draft is only one week away and most analysts and mock drafts have Luke Joeckel going number one to the Chiefs. This draft has been widely criticized as having a weaker class since there are no clear cut stars or elite offensive prospects. However, this is a deep defensive class and there are some very interesting prospects especially in BYU’s DE/OLB Ezekeil “Ziggy” Ansah. Ansah, who was unknown at the beginning of this year, has become one of the top prospects because of his pure athleticism and success at the combine. Ansah performed well at the senior bowl and the combine and shot up the draft boards. ESPN’s draft guru, Mel Kiper Jr., even had Ansah going in the top 5 at one point. Ziggy Ansah is a dangerous pick though because he is a very raw talent with less than two years of football experience. He could easily become a monster in the NFL or turn out to be a huge bust. Ansah is constantly compared to the Giants All-Pro DE Jason Pierre-Paul because Pierre-Paul was a very raw talent and a first class athlete. We’ll just have to find out on draft day if teams are willing to risk a top pick on Ezekeil Ansah.
