Ohio State Buckeyes: What We Learned

Ohio State Buckeyes: What We Learned

Dec 8, 2013

A loss was bound to happen. Michigan State proved to be the better team last night. After going 24-0 the Buckeyes have registered their first loss in two seasons. Can we really complain though? I did not fathom this to ever happen; I knew Urban Myer was going to be a successful head coach in Columbus, but not to this magnitude.

After a heart breaking loss last night, it’s possible we could see an Ohio State- Alabama matchup in a bowl game. If so, it will have a BCS feel to it. Hopefully, the pass game will not again be given up as it was against Michigan State. The Buckeyes, who have a dominant offense led by Braxton Miller, and Carlos Hyde simply did not execute last night.

The loss last night taught us they do have weaknesses. The Spartans kept Braxton Miller contained quite well throughout the night, limited his options to spread the field, and kept Carlos Hyde at bay. It seemed as if the Buckeyes were going to come back after scoring 24 unanswered points but that wasn’t the case, the Spartans led by Connor Cook, drove down the score to set up RB Langford score a rushing touchdown with only 2:16 left in the fourth quarter. The Buckeyes, along with Urban Myer are not unstoppable, their defense can collapse, and the offense can deteriorate. However, they are still an elite Big 10 team with plenty of fight left in them.

Just wait till the bowl game.
