That’s right! Metta World Peace is traveling East to join the New York Knicks. After all the talk about not wanting to play in the NBA next season and taking his talents to China, the only traveling World Peace will be doing is from the West Coast to the East Coast. After being waived by the Los Angeles Lakers last Thursday, Metta World Peace agreed to a two-year deal to join Knicks and add another veteran to their roster.

So what does World Peace bring to the New York Knicks? Besides craziness, he is a tough defender and can occasionally hit shots. Mike Woodson, being a defensive-minded coach, will find great value in this new addition. With two previous defensive players of the year in Tyson Chandler and Metta World Peace, Woodson will be able to set up a defensive unit stronger than last year.
Metta insists that he is not concerned much about his role capacity on the team and that he just wants to win. That is the attitude he must keep, that everything is for the team because with the pairing of J.R. Smith and Metta it can be trouble in paradise.
It has been recently reported that the Knicks lose last year’s sixth man of the year, J.R. Smith, for 3-4 months after having knee surgery. He plans to be ready for the start of the season.
So far it has been a wild offseason with the draft, signings, and trades.
The Eastern Conference is looking to load up on all cylinders with hopes of taking down the NBA’s back-to-back champions Miami Heat. So far, the state of New York is stronger (Brooklyn Nets & New York Knicks). The Pacers are getting stronger, the Hawks have potential, the Celtics are very questionable, and if Derrick Rose is just as good as he was before injury the Bulls can be threatening.
So having Peace in the East can come in handy for the Knicks in their pursuit of a title and being able to contend in the East.
