Sadness in the Air…

Sadness in the Air…

Apr 13, 2013

After speaking with a couple of my LA Lakers friends, I think it is safe to say there is a dark cloud hovering over. The injury of the Black Mamba, Vino, or whatever he calls himself will really shake this franchise this season (the little time left), next season, and in the future. After a playoff guaranteed, Kobe Bryant took it upon himself to will his team into the eighth and final playoff spot. It is safe to say that the stress and strain that he has placed upon himself especially for a basketball player his age has caused him to become injury prone. Kobe underwent Achilles surgery Saturday to repair a torn Achilles tendon in his left leg caused in the Lakers win against the Golden State Warriors on Friday, April 12th. He is expected to miss six to nine months after the surgery.

If the Lakers hold on to the eighth spot, they will go against the Oklahoma Thunder in the first round of the playoffs. Well Kobe may cash in on his guarantee, but these Lakers without Kobe is like OKC scrimmaging against a college squad in preparation for the playoffs. Lakers pack your bags because it is going to be a long summer…
