The Knicks Find Themselves In the Headlines Again

Mar 19, 2014

Even while having one of the worst seasons of almost any NBA team this year the New York Knicks find themselves making headlines yet again. In the middle of a surprisingly terrible season, the Knicks somehow managed to get legendary coach Phil Jackson to sign on as the teams president for the next five years.

Phil Jackson is a very brave man.

The Knicks have been oh so bad this season. Right now their record is 27-40 after recently going on a 5 game win streak. That places them in the 9th spot in the Eastern Conference. The 8th seeded Atlanta Hawks currently have a 31-35 record, which will be kind of hard for the Knicks to do at this point in the season.

Also there is the whole Carmelo Anthony issue. Last year when the Knicks were a winning team, there was no question of if Carmelo Anthony would leave the Knicks. Now after the train wreck season they’ve had, its not to crazy to think that Carmelo will leave this off-season after he opts out of his contract. Reportedly the Knicks are in competition with Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls for Carmelo Anthony’s talent this off-season.

But now all of that is supposed to change since Phil Jackson is on board. Phil Jackson is one of the greatest coaches to ever do it as he won 11 championships as a coach with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers as well as two rings as a player with the New York Knicks. The only problem is Jackson won’t be coaching the Knicks, he is in an executive role. This should be interesting to see how things go in the future.

Somehow, someway even in the midst of terrible seasons the Knicks find ways to keep people interested. It goes from crazy trades to eccentric players to bad coaches to now legendary coaches becoming apart of their front office. If there is one thing true about Phil Jackson, it is that this man knows basketball. With Phil in town we’ll probably be looking at a different Knicks team this summer, which should be very interesting to see.

Regardless of how bad a season the Knicks have this team never fails to give us something to talk. Now we just have to wait and see what happens this summer.

Was good though, it's me Everick Davis Jr. Born and raised in Portsmouth Virginia, I'm currently a senior at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. I watch every sport (not so much golf) but I am huge on the NBA. My favorite players right now are J.R. Smith, Russell Westbrook & Nick Young. Drinking beer and watching sports is my favorite past time and I do it year round! I used to play basketball on the regular until everyone else kept growing and I still stood at 5'6. So that's when I channeled my efforts into becoming the next Stephen A Smith or anything close to that. I currently write for "The Carolinian" newspaper in Greensboro, NC and intern for http://theurbantwist.com/ Random Fact about me, I love anime, my favorite one is One Piece! Second random fact, I got beatz! check me out http://www.reverbnation.com/ielabs
