The Nets Might Be A Problem

The Nets Might Be A Problem

Apr 9, 2014

Tuesday night the Brooklyn Nets defeated the Miami Heat with a controversial ending. Mason Plumee met LeBron James at the rim and swatted away what would of been his game winning dunk. Some thought it was a foul but the refs thought it was clean. Frankly the only reason theres a debate here is because it was LeBron getting rejected. Either way it ended, the Miami Heat lost to the Nets again. This wasn’t the first time Miami lost to the Nets but the fourth time out of four times this year.

Now some people may look at this as only the regular season and not mattering, but the defending champs don’t usually drop all four games against an opponent. If the Heat get beat they usually strike back sometime during the regualr season. All these games came down to the wire so we know both squads were trying and both teams had multiple injured players so thats not a factor either.

The point to made here is that the Brooklyn Nets are to be feared. This team full of seasoned verterans have turned it around and proven that it wasn’t a mistake to be hype about them early on. Before the season started they looked at as the team that would potentially have the best overall record. If this team didn’t deal with all the injuries and the fact that Jason Kidd was still figuring things out early on, their record would probably be way different than the 43-34 record they boast now.

The craziest part about the Nets this year is that the main guys (Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Brook Lopez) aren’t the ones doing most of the damage. The man who has lead the charge and been a big factor on the Nets turnaround has been Shaun Livingston. Livingston is the guy who brutually broke his leg years ago when he had all the potential in the world and has been jumping from team to team ever since. Livingston looked like his career was coming to a earlier close before the season but injuries lead him to starting. Now he plays a big role controlling the offense for the Nets.

Brooklyn is currently in the numbere five seed in the Eastern Conference which is where they will likely stay. Even without the advantage of home court advantage this team could definitely make some noise. They may not be the super team that they were projected to be but they definetly aren’t the pushovers they looked like at the beggining of the season. We’ll see how things go in the playoffs but right now the Nets look like they can beat alot of teams.

Was good though, it's me Everick Davis Jr. Born and raised in Portsmouth Virginia, I'm currently a senior at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. I watch every sport (not so much golf) but I am huge on the NBA. My favorite players right now are J.R. Smith, Russell Westbrook & Nick Young. Drinking beer and watching sports is my favorite past time and I do it year round! I used to play basketball on the regular until everyone else kept growing and I still stood at 5'6. So that's when I channeled my efforts into becoming the next Stephen A Smith or anything close to that. I currently write for "The Carolinian" newspaper in Greensboro, NC and intern for http://theurbantwist.com/ Random Fact about me, I love anime, my favorite one is One Piece! Second random fact, I got beatz! check me out http://www.reverbnation.com/ielabs
