Who’s Scared!?!?

Who’s Scared!?!?

Jul 18, 2013

As if the rivalry between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Clemson Tigers wasn’t already big, Jadeveon Clowney just added a little more fuel to the fire. During the SEC media day, South Carolina’s talented defensive end called out Clemson’s quarterback Tajh Boyd, stating that his sense fear in Boyd when the teams play.

Well those weren’t his exact words, his statement was more like this:

“I can tell Tajh Boyd is scared back there. He ain’t no sitting duck, but you can see in his eyes that he’s scared of our D-linemen. We know that coming into the game that we have him shook already. We get a couple hits on him and it changes the whole game. He’s scared every time we play them. I know he’s probably listening to this right now, but I’m just telling the truth, man.”

Tajh Boyd has yet to fire back at Clowney and the Gamecocks, choosing to take the high road. But stated that he was not going to entertain it and that the Tigers have not beat the Gamecocks in a while so there really isn’t much to say.

This isn’t the first time the teams have had a war of words in recent years. Last season, Gamecocks’ coach Steve Spurrier found every opportunity to call out Clemson’s coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers’ football program.

Notably the comments that Spurrier made about LSU having the real Death Valley and Swinney fired back by saying that the real USC is in California.

Clowney’s comments aren’t shocking given the rivalry between the two programs but it will be interesting this November when the team go head-to-head. Boyd will be trying his best to stand his ground and Clowney will be trying his best to back up his words with his play. Boyd should use this as motivation. Clowney should bring that same intensity into the season. Clowney also claims Aaron Murray (Georgia’s Quarterback) and Tyler Wilson (ex- Arkansas Quarterback) are also “scared.”

On the other hand, Coach Swinney doesn’t think “Tajh Boyd’s scared of anybody.”
