Wieters Hits a Grand Slam to Lift the Orioles Against the Rays

A close game that led to extra innings did not last long between the Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays. At the bottom of the 10th inning, Matt Wieters hit a game winning grand slam with Nick Markakis, Brandon Gomes and Adam Jones on base. The Orioles won 10-6 improving to 8-7 on the season. It was Baltimore’s first game-ending grand slam since May 4, 1999 when Harold Baines did it against the Chicago White Sox. David Price, who was on the mound for the Rays, remains winless after four games despite being the reigning AL CY young award winner. The Orioles open a three-game interleague series Friday (April 19th) against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This marks their first visit to Camden Yards since 2002.
