NBA 2k14 is the Real Deal

Oct 2, 2013

2k Sports really did themselves justice with the release of NBA 2k14. If you haven’t gotten the game yet then you should do yourself  a big favor and pick this up. Now I understand you probably just dropped 65 bucks two weeks ago on GTA 5 (I know I did) so your funds might be low, but got dammit this game is worth it too. I know a lot of people may think that there’s not that much of a difference between NBA 2k13 and 2k14 but oh trust me there is.

If you don’t believe me just look at this huge difference:

But seriously this game is tight. Even though virtually nothing from my article a few months ago was put in the game, I can still say that the producers did a great job. There weren’t many huge changes for the game modes, most of those remained solid, but the game play is what took a serious turn.

One complaint from NBA 2k13 was that it was damn near impossible to play defense. It didn’t matter who had the ball, they could cross you up then go straight to the basket to jam on your big man. This time around none of that goes down. When you have a player that is known for their defense, they actually play defense. Try to drive the lane on Tyson Chandler or Roy Hibbert, and watch how fast your layup is set back. Try and cross up Tony Allen and watch the ball get ripped from you. 2k14 somehow made the less glamorous side of the game, very fun to play.

Also they took out the way players react to contact. Instead of completely over reacting and missing a layup, players now will fight through contact in order to get to basket. There is no running through anybody, if a defender is there then you better just pass it. Also if you pump fake and the defender bites and jumps up to block the shot, its a very good chance that defender flies right into you and both players are on the floor.  They also took out how easy it is for players to hit three pointers so now the game is truly balanced.

I looked through the ratings and most very accurate (some were way off). The producers kept too their promise that there will be more roster updates by updating the roster only a few hours after the release, which was really cool.

The game modes all seem the same but a little bit enhanced, as I noticed that not all my players in the Association don’t get butt hurt when they don’t start.  Oh yeah and the rookies look exactly like they do in real life. Only few players were updated from last years game, and most are accurate but if you want a good laugh look what they did to Chris Paul. The My player seemed solid as usual. Now the only thing I haven’t checked out is the LeBron James: Path to Greatness mode which I’m just going to take a guess and say its amazing. The soundtrack is very chill, and has something that everybody likes (you know instead of just Jay-z tracks).

Overall NBA 2k14 is the real deal. This one is definitely worth the money.

Was good though, it's me Everick Davis Jr. Born and raised in Portsmouth Virginia, I'm currently a senior at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. I watch every sport (not so much golf) but I am huge on the NBA. My favorite players right now are J.R. Smith, Russell Westbrook & Nick Young. Drinking beer and watching sports is my favorite past time and I do it year round! I used to play basketball on the regular until everyone else kept growing and I still stood at 5'6. So that's when I channeled my efforts into becoming the next Stephen A Smith or anything close to that. I currently write for "The Carolinian" newspaper in Greensboro, NC and intern for http://theurbantwist.com/ Random Fact about me, I love anime, my favorite one is One Piece! Second random fact, I got beatz! check me out http://www.reverbnation.com/ielabs
